MONTROSE, Colo. (AP) - A Paonia citizens group is asking the federal Bureau of Land Management to release the identity of anyone expressing interest in oil and gas lease parcels.
Members of the group Citizens for A Healthy Community sent a letter Friday to the BLM's deputy directors in Washington, D.C., asking the agency to stop treating the information as confidential.
According to the Montrose Daily Press, the courts have rejected the BLM's argument that the information is exempt from the Freedom of Information Act, but the agency is still keeping some of the information secret.
A call made to the Denver BLM headquarters Friday was not immediately returned.
