Greeley's only recycle center to close

GREELEY, Colo. (AP) - Greeley's only recycle center is closing because of high costs.

Gallegos Sanitation Inc. says the cost to collect and transport plastics, glass, cardboard and other materials outweighs what it can earn by selling them.

The Greeley Tribune reports the cost has also increased because many people are misusing the site, dropping off electronics and other waste that cannot be recycled at the center.

Greeley officials are posting signs warning people who dump their trash at illegal dump sites that they could get a municipal citation if they are caught.
