HUGO, Colo. (AP) - Authorities investigating the slayings of an elderly couple in eastern Colorado are focusing on the couple's great-grandson.
Investigators said Thursday that the 16-year-old boy is the only person of interest in the deaths Charles and Laura Clagett in Hugo. They were found dead in their home Wednesday after the teen crashed his pickup truck. The couple had custody of the boy. Deputies discovered their bodies when they went to the home to notify them of the crash.
The teen was seriously injured in the crash and was still in the hospital. He's expected to recover. The assistant director of the Colorado Bureau of Investigation, Steve Johnson, said a large amount of cash was found in the truck.
