A grass fire burning about a mile west of Cheyenne Mountain High School is contained tonight.
The fire started this afternoon in the Stratton Open Space area on the southwest side of Colorado Springs. The fire was declared contained at 7:06 p.m.
It burned 2.7 acres of dry grass and brush. Colorado Springs fire crews will work through the night to put out the fire and make sure it doesn't flare back up. Fifty firefighters were working the front lines, including crews from Colorado Springs Utilities and the state of Colorado.
