Gov. Bill Ritter will visit the town of Fowler in Otero County tomorrow to honor the town's successes as a pilot community for his new Sustainable Main Streets Initiative. The program, launched in April, is designed to help communities revitalize their downtown corridors and improve their quality of life.
Fowler is 30 miles east of Pueblo and has about 2,000 residents. Gov. Ritter will deliver remarks at a press conference and participate in a ribbon cutting ceremony at a nearby solar panel installation starting at 10 a.m. at Fowler Elementary School, 601 W. Grant Ave.
Fowler has recently installed a 137 kilowatt photovoltaic system which should provide two thirds of the electricity Fowler uses.
