Gov. Ritter has proclaimed Feb. 12, 2010, as "Colorado Winter Olympians Day" throughout the State of Colorado. With the Opening Ceremony of the XXI Winter Olympics hours away, the Governor honored the Colorado Olympians with a proclamation emphasizing the state's support of its hometown athletes.

"I want to congratulate all of our Coloradan Olympians in 2010," said Gov. Ritter. "We wish you the very best of luck as you go forward and compete in these Winter Games. Colorado has much to be proud of, and we have certainly been the home of many great athletes. We consider you among the very best of them."

Of all the athletes that comprise Team USA, 21 have hometowns listed in Colorado. The 2010 Winter Olympics will begin on Friday in Vancouver, Canada.
