If you plan to ship Christmas gifts this week, you'll have plenty of company. This is known as the busiest shipping week of the year.

UPS expects to drop off more than 22 million packages -- 250 deliveries a second. The US postal service says it'll handle 830 million pieces of mail today, which may require some patience.

"Even with a full staff and extra people, there's still a line," said Ron Perry, spokesperson of the Springs post offices. " It's just that time of year. Just be patient. Use our automated postal system if you're using credit or debit or just visit with folks and enjoy the day."

Some important dates to reminder: Dec 21 is the dealine for mailing packages in the U.S. to get them there in time for Christmas. Dec 22 is the deadline for mailing them within Colorado.
