LAS VEGAS (AP) - The Republican presidential contest is getting nasty and personal.
Mitt Romney's rivals are seeking to tear him down less than three months before the leadoff Iowa caucuses.
Increasingly on the defensive, Romney is being hammered on old issues - such as a five-year-old episode of illegal immigrants working on his yard - and he's creating new openings for everyone from Rick Perry to President Barack Obama to criticize.
Perry on Wednesday said he's "not the candidate of the establishment." He says he won't shift positions the way Romney has, a dig one day after Republicans traded hard criticism of each other in a debate.
