60 degrees along the Front Range Saturday isn't bad for a January weekend; but if you thought you were excited, try business owners who rely on walk-by traffic.

"A weekend like this can pay... almost the bills," explains Vic Almen, owner of the Colorado Custard Company. He says he got an early start to take advantage of the nice day.

In a tough economy -- and in the off-season for tourists -- shops in areas like Manitou Springs are looking for any bright spot they can find. Saturday's sunshine gave them just what they were looking for.

"That can translate in dollars," says Bud Ford, who has owned The Dulcimer Shop on Manitou Ave. for 41 years. "It can easily double or triple the gross that you would do without the good weather."

Ford says that he might typically see three or four days as nice as this Saturday in a normal January. When those days fall on the weekend, he says it's like hitting the lottery.

Store owners are expecting more good weather on Sunday too -- plus no big football games on TV -- so they're hoping for another good business day.
