We have a Punxatawny Phil, Thailand has sacred oxen.
The oxen pair have predicted a good rice harvest this year.
An ancient plowing ceremony was held in Bangkok to mark the end of the dry season and the start of the rice planting season. The oxen were offered a range of dishes - the ones they chose predict the coming season. A senior agriculture ministry official interpreted their choices as meaning plenty of rain and a good harvest.
Rice grains used during the ceremony are snatched up by farmers when it's over. The seeds are considered good luck.
