Gold glovers Tulo and Cargo add Silver Slugger Awards

DENVER (AP) - Colorado Rockies shortstop Troy Tulowitzki and outfielder Carlos Gonzalez have been awarded Silver Slugger awards for the best offensive player at their positions.

The awards were announced Thursday, one day after Tulowitzki and Gonzalez each won his first Gold Glove for the best defense at their position.

Gonzalez led the National League with a .336 average, a career best. He had 117 RBIs and 34 homers.

Tulowitzki hit .315 last season, also a career best, with 95 RBIs and 27 homers.

Gonzalez and Tulowitzki are the first Rockies to win Silver Slugger awards since Matt Holliday in 2008.
