In celebration of All Hallows Eve, Manitou Springs' spectral history comes alive for the 14th year on October 24th during the Ghosts of Old Manitou Walking Tour.
Tours take approximately 45 minutes and will take you through downtown Manitou Springs, with costumed Spirit Guides leading the way into the town's shadowy past. The ghosts encountered during the tours are authentic and most lived (and died) in Manitou Springs during its zenith as the "Saratoga of the West", a health resort famous for its healing mineral waters. At the end of the tours, each ticket holder receives a complimentary Ghostly Gazette as a souvenir of this unearthly stroll down Manitou's memory lane. Warm clothing and comfortable walking shoes are recommended.
Tours will start at the Manitou Springs Heritage Center, 517 Manitou Avenue, and depart every 15 minutes, starting at 5:30 pm. The last tour will leave at 8:00 pm. Ticket prices are $10 for adults and $5 for children 4 to 12. All children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult.
Due to the popularity of past tours, advance ticket purchase is highly recommended. Tickets are currently available and can be purchased by cash, check or credit card by calling (719)210-4303 or by visiting the Manitou Springs Heritage Center from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Wednesday through Sunday. Refunds will be available if the tours are cancelled due to weather.
Thank you to this year's tour sponsors - The Avenue Hotel and Two Sisters Inn. Volunteers (guides, ghosts, and behind-the-scenes) are also still needed and anyone interested should call or visit the Heritage Center. Proceeds from the tours will support the Manitou Springs Heritage Center and the Building Purchase Fund. The Heritage Center is an educational nonprofit organization dedicated to the preservation of the culture and history of this unique mountain resort community.
