There are big plans to scare up some money for the Colorado Springs Fire Department's Explorer Program. The program gives kids the chance to experience what it is like to be a fire fighter.

Haunting is the hobby of local retired firefighter Jack Schinkel, and he is putting together a spook alley called "Nightmare on West Colorado Avenue." He has been doing this for decades, so he is able to do some high-quality haunting. And the proceeds will be passed on to a good cause.

"I had a shed that's just full of this stuff, 200-something Halloween masks and black lights and strobe lights I've collected, so a lot of that expense isn't there," Schinkel says.

The finishing touches are going on right now, and the haunting begins next week. The haunted house is at 3445 West Colorado Avenue. Admission is $10.
