Lewis Palmer School District 38 has been questioned about Genesis Sims, a little girl whose body was found stuffed in the crawl space of a home in Monument more than a year after her family moved out of the rental home.
District Community Relations Manager Robin Adair has released this statement on behalf of the district:
"Genesis Sims briefly attended 2nd grade at Palmer Lake Elementary in the fall of 2008. She was enrolled for about six weeks, but was actually at school much less than that. Specific attendance records are confidential. Her family withdrew her to be home-schooled in October of 2008.
Generally, and in all cases, Lewis-Palmer School District staff quickly alerts authorities of serious concerns regarding any students. Our staff members are genuinely concerned and involved with our students. The school takes appropriate action when it is warranted. Confidential information from specific student records can't be shared publicly.
Our schools and staff have provided information to law enforcement authorities and are fully committed to anything we can do to help in this investigation."
