The generous people of Southern Colorado continue to support the people of Haiti.

On Saturday, close to 100 people met at Glen Eyrie in Colorado Springs for a Haiti benefit, including music, entertainment, and speeches about the poverty-stricken country. Waddell and Reed Financial Advisors and Compassion International teamed up for the event, which featured speakers Rear Admiral Michael parks, a crisis responder in Haiti; Dr. Steven Foley, a crisis doctor in Haiti; and Geoff Peters, a member of the Compassion International Disaster Relief Team. Compassion has been in Haiti for more than 40 years helping its children.

"It's been a blessing just to be involved with Compassion to try to help the kids," said J Flanagan of Waddell and Reed, "Can you do anything alone? Absolutely. Just get out there and make a difference."

The groups received $20,000 in donations at the event alone.
