A genetic variant may one day be able to tell doctors whether a man has an aggressive form of prostate cancer, one of the leading cancer killers.

Researchers at Wake Forest University studied the genes of men with aggressive prostate cancer, and those with slow-growing disease, and identified a gene that was linked to a 25 percent increased risk for the dangerous form of the prostate cancer.

Researchers say more studies are needed, but they hope to use this information to screen men for the disease early in life.
