Gas prices have shot up 8 cents in the last week. We're now averaging $2.99 a gallon.
A local petroleum company believes the prices at the pump will continue to rise, especially with the US Embassy closing operations in Syria today.
"Anytime you have any sort of trouble in the Middle East, like we see in Syria, just like we saw in Libya earlier this year, you're going to see the markets react and that's probably what we're seeing right now," Craig Ochs said. Ochs is the Vice President of Acorn Petroleum.
He also says he believes the prices will climb well into summer, but Coloradans can be glad our prices are some of the lowest in the nation.
