Gas prices once again rising

Gas prices are up once again. Right now we are paying the most we've ever paid during springtime. In Colorado Springs and Pueblo a gallon of regular has jumped up 56 cents since February according to AAA. "It's terrible. It's like another monthly bill." says Erica as she filled up her car at a Colorado Springs pump.

12 states and the District of Columbia are already topping $4 bucks a gallon and the rest of us could be headed there soon. "It's like $70 bucks to fill my car up." says Erica.

Even so, car dealers say their sales are up this year as the economy recovers. But when people do buy cars, they have one thing on their mind. "There's no doubt about it, fuel economy is on everybody's mind. $4 a gallon... That's gone up quite a bit." says Dan Jonuska, GM at Phil Long Ford. It's forcing car manufacturers to give you more bang for your buck when you fill up. "I can't tell you how many people were coming in here saying, it's time... We're going to trade in the midsize car and get into something smaller." says Jonuska.

But as the price at the pump explodes, many like Erica are already thinking of their next move. "I'm going to get a bicycle that's what I'm going to do! I'm going to get a bike!" she says with a laugh.
