More than 950 civilian employees furloughed as a result of the U.S. Government shutdown will be recalled back to duty, effective Monday morning. The workers went on furlough on October 1.
"Having more than two-thirds of our employees not here to support the Air Force's Academy mission to produce lieutenants for our Air Force and our Nation has been tremendously disruptive," said Lt. Gen. Michelle D. Johnson, Academy Superintendent, in a press release. "While the progress to bring back more than 950 people is encouraging, our thoughts go out to our teammates who are still at home without pay. We look forward to the day all of our hard working civilians are back on the job."
