Ft. Carson soldier arrested, suspected of child abuse resulting in death

An active duty Fort Carson soldier is arrested after the death of a 10-month-old boy.
Last night, Sand Creek officers when to a home on Brant Hollow Court where the young child was unconscious but breathing.
He was taken to the hospital, where doctors found multiple bruises on his torso and face.
It was suspected that the child suffered a fractured skull possibly causing his brain to bleed.
The child was transferred to the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit where he died
The parents were in the home at the time and made the 911 call.
The initial accounts of how the injuries occurred were inconsistent with the preliminary investigation.
After further investigation, the stepfather, Zachary Doggett, an active duty soldier stationed at Ft. Carson, was arrested and charged with Child Abuse Resulting in Death, a class two felony.
The investigation is ongoing.
An autopsy will be conducted to determine the cause of death.
