FORT CARSON, Colo. - Fort Carson is preparing shelters on post to accommodate service members and Families from the U.S. Air Force Academy, displaced by the Waldo Canyon Fire, tonight.

Based on an evacuation order issued by the USAFA installation commander, all residents in the academy's Pine Valley Housing are encouraged to report to Fort Carson Main Gate, Gate 1.

Fort Carson officials are currently coordinating to provide temporary housing and support for as many USAFA service members and their Families, displaced due to the wild fire, as necessary. Fort Carson leaders are working closely with USAFA officials to make the reception process as convenient as possible.

Fort Carson remains prepared to assist firefighting efforts under the constraints of federal statutes.
