Denver-based Frontier Airlines announced Thursday it is starting seasonal summer service to Fairbanks International Airport.

The nonstop flights from Denver will start May 14 and continue four days a week through Sept. 12. Fairbanks Convention & Visitors Bureau president and CEO Deb Hickok praised the news.

Hickok says expanded air service is critical to the growth of Interior Alaska's tourism industry. Frontier launched seasonal summer service to Anchorage in 2004.
