Colorado Springs Police continue their investigation to find the cause of a deadly shooting Friday afternoon. At around 5:30 Friday officers were dispatched to the 300 Block of East Las Vegas. When the arrived the found one man laying dead outside of a home and when they entered the home they found two more apparent victims. One was still alive.
That victim was taken to memorial hospital in Grave Condition and is identified by close family friends as Gustavo Marquez, a local resident of Colorado Springs. Marquez is well known in the Colorado Springs Police Department where he formed many friendships. Gustavo also has a close friend of local Bail Bondsman and Bounty hunter Bobby Brown who spoke fondly of his friend. Mr. Brown spent the late afternoon Friday at the Hospital and came to News First Five to update us on Marquez's current condition.
"He's in critical condition, basically the way I understand it... and I can't speak medically so, but one bullet did a considerable amount of damage to his liver," Brown went on to say, "I talked with the Doctor who was there when Marquez came in and did the surgery and he describe him as knocking at Death's door."
Marquez has been conscious and alert today and according to friends recalls all of the details of what happened, at his side are his only son and friends. The puzzling aspect of the case is why his father reportedly tried to kill him, his mother and ultimately himself.
That part of the investigation is being undertaken by the Colorado Springs Police Violent Crimes Division. As more details are confirmed by police and those close to the case, we will follow up on them.
