Friday morning's temperatures were a little backward from normal. The coldest air was down low in the Arkansas River Valley around Pueblo, La Junta, and Lamar. Higher in altitude, temperatures were 20 degrees warmer around Colorado Springs and Monument. Weather balloons are usually needed to see these vertical temperature differences, but our varying terrain allows to us to see them easily with surface observations.
The wind will pick up this afternoon and mix the warm air up high downward. That means we should all easily reach into the 50's this afternoon. Some of us will break 60 tomorrow afternoon. Enjoy the warm and beautiful weekend. Colder wintry changes are on tap for next week.
