FREX passes are only good for another three weeks. As of February 12, the popular bus route that takes people from Colorado Springs to Denver, and a few place in between, won't exist.
The policy written on the back of the ticket says "no refunds, no exchanges." But some people called News First 5 saying they wouldn't have enough time to use up their passes, especially if they bought a pass from Castle Rock to Denver. That route ended in January.
"In terms of being fair to all our riders, we have to be careful about using our funds wisely and being fair to the riders who are always using their money, so we have to be very careful about how we sell tickets," says David Menter, Transit Planning Supervisor. "It's pretty common in the transit world because of the chance for fraud."
The city started notifying bus riders of the changes and the ending of FREX in late October, both with letters, signs, and online postings. For some, that still isn't enough time to use up the passes they have. Menter says the city will stay firm on its "no refund" policy.
