Fremont County sheriff proposes sales tax hike to help restore cuts

If you live in Fremont County, you could be facing a higher sales tax. Fremont County Sheriff, Jim Beicker, is proposing a one cent sales tax on the November election ballot. The sheriff says the tax hike would bring in $2.8M for the agency. He says they would use that money to bring back staff that has been cut over the years. "We don't have 24-hour coverage of law enforcement services in the west portion of my county," says Beicker. "After a certain hour, if something bad happens out there, the response is from this part of the county and it's extended response." If passed, the tax hike would be imposed for the next 10 years.
