SEDALIA - A freight train derailment has shut down a highway in Douglas County.
Seventeen cars went off the tracks Thursday in Sedalia but the Douglas County Sheriff's Office said no injuries or spills have been reported.
Thirty of the 35-car train were empty and all cars that derailed remained upright.
The view from the air showed that a set of rail wheels from one of the cars had separated and crashed into a nearby gas station. A pillar holding up the front facade of the building was destroyed.
The BNSF train was heading north from Amarillo, Texas to Denver.
It's still not clear what caused the train to derail. An investigation is underway.
Colorado Highway 67 will be closed at U.S. Highway 85 until late Friday.
