Instead of neighborhood watch, you might call it neighborhood health-watch. More than 200 people in the old north end neighborhood are partnering up with a local hospital to see how healthy they are.
It's all part of the Healthy Neighborhood Project run by the Penrose - Saint Francis Health System. The goal of this pilot program is to help educate specific neighborhoods about their health and wellness through a 6 month series of screenings, assessments and one on one heath coaching. "It's a great way for them to learn more about how healthy they are or what things they're doing well as well as finding out what areas they can have a health coach help them with to encourage them and inspire them to make healthy lifestyle choices." explains Kristine Barrett, Wellness Coordinator for Penrose - St. Francis.
The program is free to anyone over 18 in the Old North End neighborhood. The next screening will be next Thursday, the 28th from 6:30 am till 2:30 pm at Penrose Hospital
