COLORADO SPRINGS - Penrose-St. Francis Health Services, Walgreens and other community partners are working together to offer five free flu shot clinics this month for people with health insurance or those who do not have vaccine coverage. Cases of the flu are already being reported in El Paso County and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommend vaccinations to prevent infection.
The following clinics will be held for adults and children over the age of 4. A limited supply of the vaccine is available.

The vaccine protects against the three most common strains of influenza virus. It takes about two weeks for the antibodies that provide protection against the influenza viruses to develop in the body.
Flu Symptoms include: fever, cough, sore throat, runny nose, headaches, body aches, chills, fatigue, nausea, vomiting, and/or diarrhea.
Walgreens, the High Plains Helping Hands Food Pantry, Nazarene Bible College, Open Bible Medical Clinic, Grace Mountain Church, SET Family Medical Clinics and Mission Medical Clinic all partnered with Penrose-St. Francis Health Services to offer the clinics.
