Trade schmade. The Rockies didn't seem to be bothered Monday night by the mega-millions jackpots suited up in Dodgers uniforms. Instead, Jeff Francis and the Rox bullpen shut out the NL West's number two team.
Francis struck out six Dodgers batters including Mark Ellis to end the third and Hanley Ramirez to end the fourth. Perhaps the biggest K came in the top of the fifth. With runners at second and third, Francis got Shane Victorino to chase a curveball to end the inning.
Meanwhile, Colorado's young guns that got the better of Josh Beckett, despite his six strike outs. Tyler Colvin smashed a solo home run into the third deck in right field in the bottom of the first. D.J. LeMahieu drove in Chris Nelson in the fourth and Josh Rutledge repeated in the sixth.
The Dodgers threatened to even the game in the eighth when Victorino hit a lead off triple. Reliever Matt Belisle then hit Mark Ellis with a pitch bringing Matt Kemp to the plate. But Kemp grounded into a double play.
The Rockies put the game out of reach in bottom of the inning. Tyler Colvin hit two run triple to right field, Jordan Pacheco brought Colvin on a line drive to left, and then scored on a wild pitch to Carlos Gonzalez.
Wilin Rosario capped off the inning with a two run homer center field.
