Fowler teacher is passionate for education

Second grade teacher Janelle bell not only loves her job. She says it's her calling in life.

Her passion for education has made her a favorite with both students and fellow teachers at Fowler Elementary.

"There's nothing quite like teaching," Bell said. "No day is ever going to be the same."

Janelle sets high expectations for her class, and they rise to meet them, regularly scoring in the 90th percentile on standardized tests. Parents will tell you, it's the individual attention that Janelle gives that makes all of the difference. But Janelle says it's her faith that helps her connect so well with her students, sometimes in ways even she doesn't expect.

"Sometimes I surprise myself!" Bell said. "Some days, I have more patience than I knew that I had, I might have more strength than I knew that I had. I feel very fortunate that I've been given that passionate contentment to teach."

Principal Steven Grasmick says Bell is a critical member of his teaching staff. "She's just an outstanding teacher," Grasmick said. "Probably the best quality I think that she has is that she just loves her kids," Grasmick said.

It's that deep-rooted passion for kids that makes Janelle our Teachers First award winner for March.
