A foundation that paid Colorado gubernatorial candidate Scott McInnis $300,000 for water essays wants its money back, saying McInnis admitted some of the work wasn't his own.

The Hasan Family Foundation board also said Friday that McInnis did only a fraction of the work he was obligated to do as a senior
fellow of the foundation.

McInnis, a Republican, didn't immediately return a call seeking comment. He has said he would meet with the foundation to determine
whether he owes a refund.

McInnis has apologized for lifting part of a judge's work for the essays. He dismissed allegations that he plagiarized a newspaper column for a column of his own, saying he had permission from the authors to use the material.

McInnis has rejected demands that he quit the race.
