Fort Collins High School graduate Dorothy Metcalf-Lindenburger is going into outer space and will have a version of school mascot Clyde, a stuffed lamb in a space suit, by her side.

School officials believe Metcalf-Lindenburger will be the school's first graduate in space. The 1993 graduate and science teacher entered NASA's astronaut training program and will fly on the shuttle in March.

Metcalf-Lindenburger wrote to school principal Mark Eversole requesting something from the school to take with her.

Staffers had a banner with the school name and two versions of the team mascot made. The team nickname is the Lambkins.
