Fort Carson soldiers ready for Afghanistan deployment

Nearly 3,800 soldiers are ready to deploy from Fort Carson to Afghanistan. The members of the 1st Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division will train and equip the Afghan National Security Forces.
A color-casing ceremony will be held on post Thursday at 10 a.m. It signifies the unit's readiness for deployment to Afghanistan.
Members of the community are invited to watch as the battalions and the brigade leaders perform the military customs and traditions of preparing unit colors for departure.
This is the Brigade's fourth deployment since 2003, the first to Afghanistan.
