Fort Carson soldier to be posthumously promoted

FORT CARSON, Colo. (AP) - A Fort Carson soldier from Nebraska who was killed in Afghanistan has been posthumously promoted. The Defense Department said Friday that 24-year-old Mark A. Noziska of Papillon, Neb., was promoted from second lieutenant to first lieutenant.

Noziska was killed by an improvised bomb on Monday in Afghanistan. Also killed was 34-year-old Staff Sgt. Casey J. Grochowiak of Lompoc, Calif. Both were assigned to the 1st Battalion, 22nd Infantry Regiment, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division at the post south of Colorado Springs.
