2 Fort Carson soldiers killed in Afghanistan

Two Fort Carson soldiers died in separate attacks in Afghanistan.

Pfc. Devin J. Michel, 19, of Stockton, Illinois, died Saturday in Zhari province, when enemy forces attacked his unit with an improvised explosive device. He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 12th Infantry Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division.

Sgt. Eduviges G. Wolf, 24, of Hawthorne, California, died in Kunar province Sunday when her vehicle was hit with a rocket propelled grenade. She was the first female from Fort Carson to die in Afghanistan. Wolf was assigned to the 704th Brigade Support Battalion, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division.

Both deaths were reported Tuesday by the Department of Defense.
