Fort Carson is holding a memorial service for six soldiers killed in Afghanistan.

Soldiers being remembered Wednesday at the Soldiers' Memorial Chapel at the post are: Lt. Tyler E. Parten, who died Sept. 10; Staff Sgt. Randy M. Haney, who died Sept. 6; Sgt. David A. Davis, who died Sept. 19; Sgt. Youvert Loney, who died Sept. 5; Pfc. Matthew E. Wildes, who died Aug. 27; and Pfc. William L. Meredith, who died Sept. 21.

They were not among the eight Fort Carson soldiers killed in an Oct. 3 battle.

Fort Carson officials say 24 soldiers from the post outside Colorado Springs have been killed in Afghanistan.
