Ben Eastep waits for his wife as he sits on the bleachers of the Special Events Center at Fort Carson. He never knew how hard waiting would be.
"I thought I had this in the bag, but it was a little more difficult," says Capt. Ben Eastep. Nearly two years ago, he was the one standing in formation, returning from Afghanistan. He and his wife, Brandy, are both Army Captains. They now share a tour in Afghanistan, and they share the wait at home for the tour to end. They've helped each other along the way.
"Talking each other through the difficulties we're now experiencing being on the other side," says Capt. Brandy Eastep.
"It's all about being busy, keeping your mind busy, and it gets you through," says Ben Eastep.
They've spent half of their nearly three-year marriage apart. Now, they'll reconnect and enjoy time together.
"We're planning on going to the beach, where there is sand and water," says Brandy Eastep.
