Rachael Flatt is back and she is making one final run at the Winter Olympic Games.
She was back in Colorado Springs over the holidays to train for this week's U.S. Figure Skating Championships. The 21-year old has been at Stanford University the past few years. She's now junior class president. (No surprise there.)
Rachael has battled injuries the past couple of seasons, but now fully healthy, she says there's no pressure in what will be her final U.S. Championships.
"I think this is my last year skating, at least competitively," said Rachael. "My body is falling apart, ha! Honestly, I want to focus on school, and do some other things. I've had a great ride with skating so far. I'm incredibly grateful for all the opportunities I've been presented with over the years."
Rachael was 2010 U.S. Champion and finished seventh at the 2010 Olympic Games in Vancouver. She'll need a top-three finish this week in Boston for a spot in Sochi.
Opening Ceremonies for the U.S. championships begin Thursday night. Ladies and pairs short programs are also Thursday night.
You can watch TV coverage on KOAA-5 beginning Saturday at 1 p.m.
