Former Ft. Carson soldier charged with murder

Bond has been set at $1 million for a 23-year-old Army veteran accused of shooting his wife to death at their home in the Chicago suburb of Oak Lawn.

The bond was set Monday for Joseph Jesk in the death of Heather Jesk, who authorities say was pronounced dead early Sunday.  Prosecutors say Joseph Jesk recently returned from serving 11 months in Iraq. The Colorado Springs Gazette says he was formerly stationed in Fort Carson.

The Cook County medical examiner's office found 23-year-old Heather Jesk's death a homicide and said she died of a gunshot wound to the head.
Michael Clancy is Joseph Jesk's attorney. Clancy says Jesk didn't intend to harm his wife and the attorney called her death "a tragic accident."
The Jesks have two children, ages 2 years and 11 months.
