SALEM, Ore. (AP) - A former NFL lineman who wrote a 2002 memoir of his time in the league has been found dead in an Oregon wildlife refuge.
Michael Current, a 66-year-old who spent 13 seasons in the NFL, was found Monday morning at a Baskett Slough National Wildlife Refuge viewing area, the Salem Statesman Journal reports.
Polk County sheriff's officials say Current apparently shot himself.
Current was drafted in the 3rd round of the 1967 NFL draft by the Denver Broncos. He also played for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Miami Dolphins, starting 164 of the 169 games he played.
Current was born in Lima, Ohio, and played college football at The Ohio State University. He lived in Las Vegas.
His memoir is called "Rememberin' Life in the Trenches."
