Former CSU Ram Hanie will back up Manning

Call it insurance in case Peyton Manning gets injured. After trading Tim Tebow to the Jets and releasing Brady Quinn as a free agent to the Chiefs, the Broncos needed a back up.

So, they signed a deal with Bears quarterback Caleb Hanie on Saturday. The undrafted Colorado State University alum reportedly impressed Broncos scouts with his performance while filling in for the injured Jay Cutler in the 2010 NFC Championship Game.

Haine joins a half dozen other free agents who've signed with the Broncos in the last week, most of them coming after the celebrated Manning deal.
