Friday is graduation day for seniors completing their studies during the fall semester at the University of Colorado-Colorado Springs. For some, job prospects after graduation are looking good. For others, finding a job in their area of study may be difficult.
"Overall prospects, I think, are getting stronger," said UCCS Career Center director Beverly Kratzer. "Stronger certainly than the past spring." Kratzer says industries most likely to hire entry-level recent grads are engineering, retail, health care, education, information technology, and insurance.
Hossein Forouzandeh, graduating Friday with a degree in Visual and Performing Arts with an emphasis in Theater, says finding work in his preferred industry is proving difficult. "I'm just looking around, hoping to find maybe a sales position, but it is a pretty slim market out there as far as I can tell," he said. "There's definitely a lot of anxiety, for sure."
UCCS' commencement ceremony for Fall 2010 graduates is Friday at 2:00 p.m. at the World Arena.
