Repairs on the underside of the Fontanero railroad bridges will begin today. The work is expected to be completed by September 10.
The project includes construction of temporary shoring, which includes eight new columns to strengthen the mainline and siding bridges.
Fontanero Street east of I-25 has already been reduced to a single lane in each direction for construction of the piers. Once the north piers have been completed, construction will shift to the south. Multiple times during certain phases of construction, Fontanero Street will be closed to all traffic for approximately one week at a time.
