Focus on the Family lays off 110 employees

Focus on the Family has laid off 110 workers, leaving the conservative Christian group with about 750 employees.

Focus spokesman Gary Schneeberger said Monday that 15 managers, including two senior executives, were among the layoffs. Most laid-off workers will still be on the payroll until Aug. 20.

The layoffs were reported Friday but the Colorado Springs-based ministry didn't provide details at the time.

Focus on the Family has cut a total of 405 employees over the past two years. It had 1,400 employees in 2002.

Schneeberger says the ministry's budget is $105 million, $27 million less than the previous fiscal year.
