A Florida man who was paid $1.25 million for being wrongly convicted of rape has been charged with attempted murder.

Alan Jerome Crotzer is accused of shooting into a car Sunday in Tallahassee.

Authorities say he wounded Antoine Davis in his arm and leg.

Davis told police Crotzer threatened him a couple of months ago after they had an argument over a CD he sold Davis' girlfriend.

Crotzer spent more than 24 years in prison after he was convicted of rape in 1982.

He was freed after DNA evidence showed he did not commit the crime.

The Florida Legislature approved a bill in 2008 that paid Crotzer $1.25 million.

Records show the 51-year-old Crotzer was in jail Tuesday morning.

His attorney has not returned a telephone call.
