The Colorado State Patrol has released a statement on part of a time-line of this morning's events surrounding the capture of the "Dougherty Gang". Pueblo County Sheriff's Deputies were alerted to a possible camp site where a vehicle matching the suspects' white Subaru. When deputies arrived at the scene the suspect vehicle had already left. Another deputy spotted the suspect vehicle near I-25 exit 74 at a gas station. When a Colorado State Patrol Trooper attempted to initiate a traffic stop the suspects fled onto I-25 heading south where a high speed pursuit began.
State Patrol and other agencies are investigating reports of shots being fired at Troopers by the suspects as the pursuit was going on. Stop Sticks were deployed and the suspect vehicle crashed shortly after at exit 52 which is the first exit to Walsenburg heading south.
One suspect was reported to have fled the vehicle on foot while two others were taken into custody at the scene of the crash. At least one of the first two suspects had received injuries in their confrontation with Colorado State Patrol Troopers. The third suspect was captured a short distance away and taken into custody.
All suspects have been taken to an area hospital for evaluation of their injuries before they will be taken to the Pueblo County Jail.
