Flash Flood Watch Issued For Wednesday

The National Weather Service has issued a Flash Flood Watch, effective until midnight, for these counties: El Paso, Pueblo, Fremont, Teller, Otero, Baca, Bent, Crowley, Custer, Huerfano, Las Animas, Prowers, and Kiowa.

Cities and towns included are Colorado Springs, Manitou Springs, Monument, Cascade, Ellicott, Calhan, Pueblo, Pueblo West, Avondale, Boone, Cañon City, Florence, Penrose, Woodland Park, Cripple Creek, Divide, La Junta, Rocky Ford, Fowler, Timpas, Springfield, Campo, Las Animas, Ordway, Westcliffe, Silver Cliff, Rosita, Walsenburg, La Veta, Trinidad, Aguilar, Kim, Branson, Lamar, and Eads.

A Flash Flood Watch means conditions are favorable for flash flooding to occur. A Flash Flood Warning means flash flooding is occurring or is imminent. If a Flash Flood Warning is issued, you should move to higher ground for your safety.

All areas of the KOAA coverage area are at risk and should monitor weather conditions for possible warnings through NOAA Weather Radio and First Alert 5.

Remember to NEVER drive through water-covered roads. Most flood-related fatalities occur when people try to drive through high water.
