Flags will fly at half staff on Monday in Colorado in honor of a corrections officer who died this week at the Arkansas Valley Correctional Facility.
Gov. John Hickenlooper ordered flags lowered to half-staff on all public buildings statewide, in honor of Sgt. Mary Ricard. Ricard died on Sept. 24, while working in the kitchen at the medium security prison near Ordway.
A public memorial service for Ricard will be held at 10 a.m., Monday, Oct. 1, at Crowley County High School, 630 Main St., Ordway. Hickenlooper will attend the service.
