Flags will be lowered on state buildings across Colorado on Monday to mark the 68th anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor.

More than 2,200 sailors, Marines and soldiers were killed in the Japanese attack. Four U.S. battleships and 188 U.S. planes were also destroyed.

Gov. Bill Ritter says he urges Coloradans to pause in memory of the brave people who defended the country on that day nearly seven decades ago.
